| RESPONSIBILITIES: Engineering analysis to select and approve system level designs and detailed design approaches to meet production requirements for new headset communication products ? Responsible for leading the mechanical design -- including front-end feasibility, schedule and cost estimates, tolerance analysis, prototyping, tooling and production line start-up/support. Must be able to evaluate complex mechanical devices, components, assemblies and systems for development of new telephony products. Should be able to oversee design of experiments to verify and determine appropriate design performance limits and variables for product, process or material specifications. This includes communication with the Santa Cruz development team, execution of the design and schedule goals set by Santa Cruz NPD, design, prototyping, and production line start-up/support.Lead the core technology efforts in technical area -- must assure mechanical integrity and technical program objectives are met.RequirementThe individual must be highly experienced (10+ yrs) in electro-mechanical design of high volume, low cost, consumer products.The individual must have extensive experience with 3D mechanical design tools with a particular emphasis on Pro/E.The individual must have experience with plastic injection molding designs. He/she must have experience in making tradeoff’s of implementation in mechanical vs. electrical solutions for realizing low cost systems with minimal development risk.He/she must be experienced in international safety standards and EMI standards (CE, UL, etc.) and be proficient at developing mechanical designs, which meet those requirements.He/she must have experience as a project leader, and in the management of a diverse and highly competent engineering staff while at the same time be able and willing to implement part of the design soley. A “hands-on” approach is required.He/she must be able to work in a team environment and be a team oriented individual, and be able to train others in best practice techniques for mechanical design.He/she must have the skill to get cost sensitive, high volume product from definition into production on very aggressive schedules.Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.VERY DESIRABLEBSMEExperience in the telephone or communications industry.Experience in injection molded plastics, stampings, forgings & die castings.Experience with PCB packaging; wire termination methods.Experience with ASME Y14.5, DOE techniques, statistical process control & QFD.Experience in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel & Powerpoint.
